Wacky Global Warming News: Himalayan Glaciers

A warning that "climate change" (code for Global Warming) will melt most of the Himalayan glaciers by 2035 turns out to be total crap based on scientific blunders. A couple of years ago an agency of the United Nations issued a report supposedly based on the very latest scientific research into the horrors of Global Warming. It turns out that the estimate of Himalayan glacial melt was based on an 8 year old article in a science journal that even the author admits was "speculation". Speculation? Is speculation the "settled science" Al Gore refers to, or is speculation really just a "guess: a message expressing an opinion based on incomplete evidence"?

None of this is a surprise really since the whole Chicken Little view of the climate appears to have been developed based on competition for grant money and recognition rather than actual science. Scientists of the World misled over Himalayan glacier meltdown.

U.S. Paid for Full-Body Scanners at Nigeria’s Four International Airports in 2007

You read the title correctly. The US taxpayer paid for 4 Full-Body scanners for the airports in the PantyBomber's home country of Nigeria. I haven't heard yet whether the muslim terrorist actually passed through the expensive scanner but it may not have mattered since there are already experts on record stating they wouldn't have detected the panty bomb.

Of course even though the Obama administration knows that there are scanners in Nigeria, the PantyBombers country of origin, and that they were completely useless (maybe unused) we're now supposed to spend billions on them here. Meanwhile, muslim terrorists are already experimenting with explosives hidden in their body cavities and those are not detectable by these scanners. PROFILING WORKS, START PROFILING.

Concerns have been raised in the past that a particularly ambitious treaty may supersede the US Constitution. In the 1950s, a constitutional amendment, known as the Bricker Amendment, was proposed in response to such fears, but it failed to pass. We Are Not The New Kid On The Block

You might think that 233 years is a long time for a country to be around. I think so. However, there are some in the world and even in our own country (liberals) who think it's next to no time at all and that's why we must tread lightly in the world and apologize for our supposed transgressions. People who believe this, including (seemingly) our current President say we are just a child as countries go. They say we need to mature before we're ready to deal with other countries. Well, I say they're full of crap and their argument falls into the category of stupidity. We are among the oldest and most experienced of countries.

When does a country become a country? Have you ever thought about it? To me a country begins its existence when it establishes and maintains a government, or institutes a new form of government...like ending a monarchy and forming a democracy. With a new government comes new ways of doing things on behalf of, or to, the people. A new government also means new ways of dealing with other world powers. New allies, new trading partners, and sometimes new enemies come with governmental change. So, a country's experience and maturity level begin with it's new form of government. This experience is completely different than the age of an area's cultural experience. With me so far?

Yesterday was July 4th, and we celebrated the birthday of the United States of America and its independence from Great Britain. Of course it would be more accurate to say that the ratification of the U.S. Constitution, June 21, 1788, is the real date of birth of our country making the country roughly 221 years old. This is the date the parameters of government were set so I'll use that date to compare this country's age and experience to other countries.

It seems the Europeans always want to tell us how young and misguided we are. Ok, which European countries are older and more experienced? How about our faithful critic and sometimes ally France? Nope. France is currently in its "Fifth Republic" established in 1958...about 51 years old. Maybe Germany? Not a chance. The Federal Republic of Germany was formed in 1949...just 60 years ago. The Italian Republic - 1946. The "Kingdom of Spain" sounds old but the actual date is 1978. Portugal - 1976...200 years after our Declaration of Independence. Care to take a guess about Serbia, Croatia, or Bosnia & Herzegovina? I have a boom box older than those countries. Even "ancient Greece" isn't so ancient - 1975. I could go on but you can see most of Europe's countries are a bunch of newborns compared to the United States. England is an exception.

What about other ancient lands? China? Isn't China one of "cradles of civilization"? Maybe, but Chuck Yeager broke the sound barrier before the People's Republic of China came along in 1949. Japan's form of government came after their surrender in World War 2. The area of the world called India may have a long history but as a country it's not even eligible for Social Security in ours (1950). C'mon Ben, how about the Middle East? Isn't it ancient? Culturally yes, governmentally no. Your grandparents are older than the countries of the Middle East. And, don't even ask about Africa, they'll have new countries by tomorrow.

The Western Hemisphere must surely be full of countries older than the United States, right? Wrong. So wrong that I don't even want to write about it.

So, the United States isn't the new kid on the block. The United States is an elder state. My advice to the world...Respect your elder. Don't get uppity, and don't talk back. After all your elder feeds you. Your elder keeps you safe if you play nice. If you don't play nice your elder whips your butt or lets the local bully do it. Your elder comes to your rescue when nature rips your young butt a new one. Your elder even buys your pitiful crap to make sure you have a roof over your head. So remember, your elder does know better than you and your elder might feel bad about stepping-in or disciplining you but has absolutely no need to apologize.

Big Surprise - PETA Wishes PBO Hadn't Swatted That Fly

Ok, this definitely falls into the category of "I couldn't make this stuff up". On June 16th, during another of Barack Obama's seemingly endless TV appearances, he swatted and killed a fly that had been buzzing around him. It's actually one of the few times I've agreed with him but he's getting grief from everyone's favorite fringe animal group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). Yes, PETA is upset that the Apologizer In Chief killed that poor, innocent, feces-eating creature (which isn't an animal).

According to PETA spokesman Bruce Friedrich, "We support compassion even for the most curious, smallest and least sympathetic animals" and "We believe that people, where they can be compassionate, should be, for all animals." And, they must mean it too because they're sending the President the "Katcha Bug Humane Bug Catcher", a device that allows users to trap a house fly and then release it outside so it can land on more feces before landing on your food.

For his part in this matter President Obama didn't seem apologetic at all for killing the filthy creature. In fact he said "That was pretty impressive, wasn't it? I got the sucker." Yeah, he actually gloated about doing something any five year-old can do.

I'm not really even sure what else to say about this, it makes my head hurt.

Washington DC City Government Denies Handgun Registration Based On Gun Color

It's amazing how far liberal city officials will go to prevent the exercise of Constitutional Rights in the nation's capital. They persist in violating civil rights despite being told last summer by the Supreme Court (in DC v Heller) that the Second Amendment protects a pre-existing, private, individually-held right, to keep arms and to bear arms, without regard to a person’s relationship to a militia. More simply, DC residents including Heller could keep a fully assembled and loaded gun in his home for self-defense.

Despite the Heller decision the DC city government, in an effort to side-step the U.S. Constitution, has done all it can do to prevent U.S. citizens from exercising their rights by instituting a ridiculous gun registration scheme which includes a roster of "approved" guns based on a State of California list. All citizens attempting to register a handgun for their own defense in their own homes can only do so if their gun is on the list. Simple? Well, not really and that's why the city of Washington DC is being sued yet again.

The lawsuit was filed against Washington DC because when Tracy Ambeau Hanson tried to register her Springfield XD-45, which is on the approved list, she was denied registration because her gun was the wrong color. Oh yeah, you read that correctly. Her gun was not an approved black, green, or brown color...it was bi-tone. Because of that bi-tone color her gun was considered "unsafe" and her registration was denied and rights violated.

The lesson here is that anti-gun, anti-rights governments will make it up as they go in order to accomplish their goals. Exercise your rights or be ready to lose them. You can take a step in the right direction by supporting the National Rifle Association and the Second Amendment Foundation.

Will Democrat Gun Banners Be As Stupid As Canada's?

Just when you think gun control gets to its most ridiculous you hear something new and more ridiculous...Canada is now asking gun owners about their love life when renewing gun permits. Yes, you read that right. George Jonas reports on Canada's nationalpost.com that "Before renewing his gun permit in 2007, the authorities decided to inquire into (Pierre) Lemieux’s bedroom history. Did he divorce anyone in the last two years? Did he break up with a girlfriend? If yes, use a separate sheet to explain." Explain? What does that have to do with a gun permit?

Now, you might think "oh, it's just Canada" but you have to remember that President Obama and the Democrat Congress have more in common with the Socialists in Canada than with right-thinking, logical, gun-owning, freedom-loving Americans. He has previously supported a rights rationing bill in Illinois that would limit law abiding citizens from buying more than one gun a month. Obama and Democrats like Nancy Pelosi support local gun bans in Chicago, Washington, D.C., and other cities despite evidence violent crime increased after bans went into effect. Obama has endorsed a 500% increase in the federal excise tax on firearms and ammunition creating an economic barrier to a citizen's self-defense. Obama and the Democrat Congress want to re-impose the failed and discredited Clinton Gun Ban. And, the President and Democrat Congress support gun owner licensing and gun registration. So, how far down the road are questions about your love life and erectile dysfunction here in the U.S. under Obama's administration? How stupid will it get?

Make sure you act now to preserve your rights. Join the NRA and make sure you contact your representatives...and if your representatives don't support your rights - make sure they become unemployed. Stop stupidity now.

Hypocrites in Action - PETA Killed 95% of Adoptable Pets in 2008

Hypocrisy at People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) shouldn't seem unusual. After all most liberal groups are "Do as I say, not as I do" in nature when it comes to promoting their agenda. Earlier this week the nonprofit Center for Consumer Freedom (CCF) published documents online showing that PETA members killed 95 percent of the adoptable animals in its care last year (2008). Despite years of public outrage over its euthanasia program, the "animal rights" group kills nearly 6 animals each day at its Norfolk, VA headquarters.

CCF Research Director David Martosko said: "PETA hasn’t slowed down its hypocritical killing machine one bit, but it keeps browbeating the rest of society with a phony ‘animal rights’ message. What about the rights of the thousands of dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens that die in PETA’s headquarters building?"

Martosko added: "Since killing pets is A-OK with PETA, why should anyone listen to their demands about eating meat, using lab rats for medical research, or taking children to the circus?"

You would think that $32 million annual budget these hypocrites have it would enable PETA to put their money toward actually "saving" animals rather than killing them. But I guess they need to pay their Community Organizers to get out the message...you know...for the greater good.

I like my version of PETA better since it's not so hypocritical...People Eating Tasty Animals...pass the A1.

Government Money?

I'm so sick of hearing it. On the radio, even on Fox, they talk about companies like Chrysler and GM receiving billions of dollars of "Government Money". On TV they talk about the massive stimulus bill as billions of dollars in "Government Money". News Flash: There is no such thing as Government Money.

Once upon a time students in public schools used to learn about how the U.S. Government worked in classes called "Civics" or even "Government". Apparently I was among the last batch of students to attend one of those classes. So, for the benefit of current and future generations here's a very short civics lesson:

1. Government has no money of its own;
2. Government gets money from taxes paid by you and from borrowing;
3. It's only possible for government to borrow money because lenders know government will tax you in order to repay the loan;
4. Whether government taxes or borrows it's actually your money at stake;
5. The more money government gives to others the more you will eventually have to pay.

It's really that simple. Class dismissed.

Nancy Pelosi Is Third In Line?

Some things in life and politics are just plain scary. One such example is the idea of the current Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, being third in line to the presidency. Fortunately, it's just an idea and not necessarily cold, hard reality. I started thinking about this again because I was watching a re-run of "Hannity" on Sunday and heard something interesting from the "Great American Panel" segment.

Sean Hannity had been asking the panel questions about the so-called "Stimulus" bill and was making a point that maybe the government should tighten its belt. One example he gave was the enormous cost of an airplane dedicated for the use of Nancy Pelosi. Never before has the Speaker of the House had a dedicated aircraft. What do you think the token liberal on the panel said? He said that it was appropriate for her to have the aircraft because "she's third in line to the presidency."

Wow. That's seems wrong on so many levels. Yes, I know that theoretically she could be third. But is that a reason to spend several million dollars of taxpayer money each year on an aircraft, crew, maintenance, and fuel? Because she might be third? What about number four - President Pro Tempore of the Senate (Harry Reid)? Number five - Secretary of State (Hillary Clinton)? How about number six in line - Treasury Secretary (tax cheat Tim Geitner)? Where would it stop?

Besides, Nancy Pelosi can only be third in line if both the President and Vice-President die or become incapable of holding office at the same time! This is very clear in the 25th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and 3 USC 19. For instance, if the President were to die in office due to lung cancer from his continued smoking...the Vice-President becomes President automatically. Does that mean that Princess Nancy becomes Vice-President? No, it does not. The Constitution is clear that the new President may choose anyone who is constitutionally eligible to become Vice-President subject to majority vote approval by both houses of Congress. Do you think Joe Biden chooses Pelosi? Yeah, I'm laughing at that one too.

Ok, what if Vice-President Joe Biden died in a horrible Amtrak accident on his way home? Again, the 25th Amendment is clear that the President may choose anyone constitutionally eligible as his new Vice-President. Pelosi? Not a chance.

So, for Nancy Pelosi to become President of the U.S. and have the slimmest of justifications to keep wasting our money on a very expensive, wasteful, and polluting mode of transportation she'd pretty much have to personally stage a coup. Good luck with that Nancy, now ditch the plane.

Nancy Pelosi Says 500 Million Americans Will Lose Jobs Each Month

Yes, the Democratic leadership in the U.S. House of Representatives is using scare tactics to get you to support wasting nearly a Trillion Dollars of TAXPAYER MONEY. This time it's Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi who says that 500 million Americans each month will lose their jobs if a "Stimulus" package isn't passed.

If she'd said it only once I might have believed she just slipped but it happened more than once this past week. For those of you that don't know it...the U.S. Census says there are only 305 million people in the U.S. and that's counting Men, Women, and Children. So...apparently some are going to lose their jobs more than once at the same time. Maybe Pelosi counts it twice in some cases like when the boss says someone is fired and that person says "you can't fire me, I quit" that could be two lost jobs. Maybe she thinks Canada and Mexico are states and they're losing every job there too.

PETA Protestors In San Antonio - Stupidity On Parade

In their ongoing effort to turn the entire world into a bunch of vegetarians members of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) demonstrated in front of the shrine of the Alamo on Wednesday. Once again they tried to convince people that the production of meat for food is destroying the planet by providing dubious statistics.

According to KSAT TV in San Antonio PETA claimed "The demonstration in front of the Alamo was an effort to encourage (sic) people from eating meat, and used a nearly-nude woman in a portable shower to explain how the water used to prepare one pound of meat is the equivalent to six months of showers."

Well, assuming the PETA folks actually shower and assuming that their statistics are even close to accurate...who cares? What's their point? That cattle drink water? That cattle are washed with water? Are they actually trying to say that once a cow takes a drink that the water somehow becomes undrinkable for humans and can't be used to water plants? Maybe they're saying that water used in meat production is lost in a series of black holes that exist only in meat packing plants?

All water consumed by animals is returned to the ecosystem through urine, water vapor released during respiration, etc. Not one drop of water leaves the planet because a my future steak has a drink. Further, the water contained in meat contributes to hydration of animals farther up the food chain - like me.

Obama and Biden - Sticking Their Noses Into Private Business Affairs?

Thursday President Obama was quoted as saying "It is shameful". What was shameful? He was referring to $18 Billion in bonuses paid to Wall Street executives. He also said "And part of what we're going to need is for the folks on Wall Street who are asking for help to show some restraint, and show some discipline, and show some sense of responsibility." Vice President Biden said "I'd like to throw these guys in the brig." Huh? Why? They're in private business and their only responsibility when it comes to pay and bonuses is to make the owners of their company (stock holders) and the members of the board believe they earned what they got. That's it.

The only reason the government should have anything to say about the issue is if taxpayer money is used for the bonuses. And, the only way that could happen is if the Socialists in Washington, D.C. give money to "bailout" a private company AND don't place restrictions on how the money is used. If they're that stupid, and they are, then they have no right to bitch and moan when execs get board approval for a bonus. If taxpayer money isn't used then it's none of the federal government's damned business but as usual Democrats are engaging in class warfare to distract the public.

Just remember, if the government can tell Wall Street execs how much money they can make or how much their bonus can be...they can tell you too.
